Celebrities age, too! One moment, our favorite stars impress us with their talents and looks and in another, they just slip into a quiet place to embrace retirement. We tend to forget them if we don’t see them anymore or that often or perhaps we are bound to forget that they used to shine in their younger days as well, and now, they've become grandpas and grandmas. After all, it's not often that celebrity news would feature the stars of Hollywood's Golden era or the 'oldies,' which would lead us to sometimes ask questions like: “Is Kirk Douglas still alive?” - And he is! Let’s take a moment and check in to see what our elder stars have been up to lately.
Morgan Freeman - 81
Morgan Freeman is amongst the older generation of actors who are not about to quit the industry. His role in Million Dollar Baby won him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. He also had a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) lifetime achievement award as well as a Golden Globe under his belt. Freeman must have a pretty comprehensive insurance coverage being the certified holder of a private pilot license and owner of several planes. In May 2018, eight women brought up claims of inappropriate behavior by Freeman. The SAG announced that they would review actions to take in light of the allegations. But in September 2018, they decided that Freeman could keep his award.
Billy Dee Williams - 81
Billy Dee Williams’ portfolio is every artist’s envy because he has a long career as an entertainer. The singer, actor, and writer most famously portrayed the Star Wars character Lando Calrissian. The 1959 movie Last Angry Man gave his career a start. And in 2018, it was confirmed that he’ll reprise the Lando Calrissian role in 2019's Star Wars: Episode IX. Williams recorded a jazz LP with Prestige Records in 1961 and its commercial success accorded him the eligibility to appear in the 1983 Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever special. The musical films West Side Story and The King and I propelled Rita Moreno to fame. Through her seven-decade-long career, Moreno has managed to snag the coveted Triple Crown of Acting with numerous Oscar, Tony, Emmy, and Grammy awards. Moreno is also the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom which is the highest level of honor given to a civilian in the United States. Moreno, alongside other artists, contributed to the 2017 single Almost Like Praying by Lin-Manuel Miranda and the charity proceeds went to the UNIDOS Disaster Relief program. Moreno continues to act with appearances in notable TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Elena of Avalor, and One Day at a Time.

You might remember him as Jethro Bodine, Jed Clampett’s silly nephew. Max Baer Jr. is actually the only member of The Beverly Hillbillies who is still alive! Max Baer Jr. remained within the film industry until the early ‘90s when he decided that it was time for him to make a substantial investment in real estate. He ventured into the gambling industry by establishing Hillbillies-themed slot machines in various casinos before buying the land he needed in order to build his own along with a hotel. However, his plans have been on the ice, since December 2017, due to building code conflicts and technical issues.
Jerry Lee Lewis - 82
Considered a pioneer of the rock n' roll music, Jerry Lee Lewis aka 'The Killer' was on his way to becoming huge and quickly reached star status back in the '50s. However, controversies surrounding his personal life, especially his marriage to his cousin who was only 13 at the time, brought him a lot of negative criticism and his reputation suffered. Interestingly, he managed to make a comeback and enter history as one of the biggest stars of his time. Lewis' personal life is more tragic, as he lost two sons - where one drowned in a pool and the other died in a car accident.
Ali MacGraw - 79
Ali MacGraw’s career took off during the ‘70s when she got roles in movies like Goodbye Columbus and Love Story. Establishing herself as a movie star, MacGraw continued a very successful career for many years. Unfortunately, she had some trouble dealing with fame so the actress was treated for the depression. Although he never officially retired, nowadays, Douglas just tries to enjoy the fruits of his hard labor and preserve his health.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Lou Grant star, Ed Asner started his career back in the ‘50s. The famous actor is known for his charity work - helping the Holocaust survivors in Europe back in the day and as a grandfather of a child with autism, Asner has been very active in raising awareness about the disease for many years. He is also one of the prominent figures who seek a new investigation regarding the 9/11 attacks in New York.

His son also took on the presidency later but many felt he did not live up to the expectations set by his father.

She is known for her work on the miniseries The Awakening Land as well as for her work on Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Now, Turner is regarded as one of the top pop icons of the past century, and What's Love Got To Do With It is still being played in several radio stations. Currently, in her late seventies, Turner's rocking body shows that she puts a lot of effort into keeping a healthy lifestyle, which helps her remain glimmering despite her age.
Loretta Lynn - 86
When Loretta Lynn's former husband Oliver Lynn bought her a guitar, she never imagined she would be a huge country music artist later. Without even taking any formal lessons, she marked the country genre in a way few female artists have achieved. No other female country singer has won so many awards by the Country Music Association and The Academy of Country Music. Lynn is now 86, and while she looks stunning for her age, she suffered a stroke in 2017 and was rushed to a hospital. 'Good thing she has managed to recover.
Dolores Hart - 79
Hollywood is not for everyone, and Dolores Hart is an example of that. Her perfect smile and dreamy blue eyes made men melt, but she wasn't just about the looks. Her acting skills had also been remarkable. Surprisingly, she made her last acting appearances during the '60s, and she then disappeared from the limelight to lead a monastery life. In 2011, she talked about her transformation from a gorgeous actress to a nun in the God Is Bigger Than Elvis documentary.
Mickey Kuhn - 85
Another former star who decided to pursue a different career is Mickey Kuhn. He rose to stardom in the '40s and '50s as a gifted child star, with his most recognizable role being the one of Beau Wilkes in the 1939 classic Gone With The Wind. However, in 1959, he left the acting industry to engage in commercial aviation, working for the American Airlines, a prestigious job with likely provided him enough cash for his insurance premiums. Currently, the 85-year-old is one of the last three surviving members of the said movie.
Peggy Stewart - 95
Peggy Stewart hit the jackpot when her family moved to California, as she met actor Henry O'Neill, who brought her to collaborate with Paramount Pictures. The producing company granted her her first role in the 1937 film Wells Fargo. She quickly gained recognition and she has now performed in more than a hundred films and TV shows. Her age doesn't stop her, and she still makes occasional acting appearances. As someone who doesn't even need a hair loss treatment despite her white mane, she remains pretty healthy and alluring for a woman her age.
Rhonda Fleming - 95
There was no man during the '50s and '60s who didn't absolutely love Rhonda Fleming and her curls. Born Marilyn Louis, the stunning actress was a huge female role model of her time, and she wasn't dubbed "The Queen of Technicolor" for nothing. After the end of the "black n' white" era, color television dominated, and Technicolor made Fleming's hair color shine so bright it could outshine the sun. Fleming is now 95 years old, having retired in the early '90s.
Glynis Johns - 94
If you like Mary Poppins, then you sure know the astonishing actress and singer Glynis Johns, who portrayed Winifred Banks. From a talented dancer and singer to a prolific actress, Johns' career spans six decades, during which she won a Tony Award and an Academy Award nomination for her performance in The Sundowners, in 1960. Insuring a house is definitely not hard for her, though she changed a lot of them, as she has gotten married four times, with all of her relationships ending in a breakup.
Richard Erdman - 93
We don't know Richard Erdman's secret in avoiding heart problems at such an age, but whatever it is, it works 100%. In the early '40s, he made a deal with Warner Bros. and appeared in his first movies. After retiring in the '80s, she chose to find another way to pay for her life insurance, and she now works as an interior designer in Los Angeles.
Arlene Dahl - 93
After six marriages, Arlene Dahl somehow managed not to have high blood pressure! You heard that right. She has been one of the most successful actresses MGM has ever signed, making a name for herself during the '50s. After her son, renowned actor Lorenzo Lamas, was born, she decided to switch things up a bit to see him more, so she left acting and started her own clothing and lingerie line for women. She later worked as an executive member of an advertisement company. Last but not least, she has released her own books.
Marcy McGuire - 92
Marcy McGuire sadly didn't stay long within the acting industry's circles, and while her career seemed to bloom during the '40s, she opted to leave showbiz. Her contract with RKO provided her with a lot of acclaimed roles, like the one on Higher and Higher, where she played opposite Frank Sinatra. Her last acting job came in the early '60s, and she then quit acting. Despite being 92, we haven't been informed about any possible health issues she might face, and we guess that she's perfectly fine.
Jane Withers - 92
You probably don't remember Jane Withers, as you weren't even born at the time when she was a successful child star! During the '30s and the early '40s, few children were considered to be as talented as Withers was, and that was why she was so successful. Apart from her magnificent acting skills, Withers had a beautiful voice, which helped her portray Josephine the Plumber for Comet Cleanser commercials during the '60s, a role which solved her insurance expenses' issues for good. She also voice-acted in Disney's classic, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Marilyn Knowlden - 92
Just like Withers, Marilyn Knowlden joined the ranks of the super-famous child stars during the '30s. However, she opted to leave the industry a bit later to focus on studying. She studied music and drama in Mills College, and she then became a playwright. Moreover, in the mid-'90s, she starred in My Fair Lady, an acclaimed stage play. In 2011, she released her autobiography entitled Little Girl In Big Pictures, and she seems to take good care of her health and fitness, looking fantastic for a 92-year-old woman.
Carleton Carpenter - 92
We can't begin to mention how many talents Carleton Carpenter actually has. He originally started working on Broadway as a magician in stage plays, while his acting career exploded when in 1950 he signed a contract with Metro-Goldwin-Mayer. His highlight was in the movie Three Little Words where he acted alongside Debbie Reynolds. Carpenter must have been able to afford the best health insurance out there, as he later engaged in songwriting and writing, too. He's now 92 years old.
Julie Adams - 91
Julie Adams appeared in Creature From the Blue Lagoon, and she made horror film fans in the '60s lose their minds over her beauty. However, the now-91-year-old actress is most known for her work in the TV shows Murder, She Wrote and Capitol. With her healthcare insurance plans likely settled, the veteran actress appeared at film conventions until recently, while she has also been married twice. She has two sons, one of whom has helped her release her 2011 memoir The Lucky Southern Star: Reflections From The Black Lagoon.
Terry Kilburn - 91
Terry Kilburn was born in London, and when he realized how big an actor he could become, he moved to Hollywood to increase his earnings and fame. He's now famous for being a prominent child actor of the '30s, with lead roles on A Christmas Carol and Goodbye Mr. Chips. Though he appeared in some films, he was most active as a stage actor, and after leaving Hollywood, he worked as an artistic director at the Meadow Brook Theater in Michigan, which presents numerous stage plays every year.
Annie Ross - 88
Britain can be proud of having such a remarkable singer as Annie Ross. Her music with the jazz trio Lambert, Hendricks & Ross is now a classic. Though unlike other stars on our list, she wasn't that fruitful in the acting industry as well, her acting performances in movies such as Straight on Till Morning are more than decent. In 2001, she received an American citizenship. Ross' chic hairstyles have always been praised, and it seems that she possesses finesse both in singing and in styling.
Cora Sue Collins - 91
Can you imagine being a promising child star and then retiring just at 18 years of age? Well, Cora Sue Collins did exactly that. Her first role was in the 1932 film The Unexpected Father, and believe it or not, she was just five at the time. Despite retiring in 1945, she already had 47 acting credits in her name, thus you can say that she had been pretty active and sought-after. She probably even paid for her kids' health insurance herself!
Joe Turkel - 91
Joe Turkel had to forego his desire to become an actor to fight in the WWII. When he returned, it was time to pursue his dreams. Turkel rose to stardom by playing the eerie Dr. Elden Tyrell in the classic movie Blade Runner, as well as with his role in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining as Lloyd, a wicked bartender. Turkel retired a long time ago, but he didn't stop caring about nutrition obviously, as, despite being in his early nineties, he hasn't lost a bit of his imposing look.
Donna Martell - 90
Donna Martell is another one of these '40s and '50s actors who are still alive and gorgeous. However, her acting career wasn't exactly celebrity material. Her silver screen debut came in 1947 when she appeared in the movie Apache Rose. She then landed roles mostly in TV shows, with her most acclaimed one being in The Range Rider and Cheyenne. When the '60s arrived though, Martell probably encountered financial issues (like maybe paying for her insurance premiums), as her career critically declined. She was married to the late baseball player, Gene Edgar Corso.
Conrad Janis - 90
Though Conrad Janis is most known as a fruitful actor, he also had a bright music career as a trombonist playing traditional jazz music. But he has also appeared in several films and TV shows, with his most acclaimed role being the one of Mindy McConnell's father in Mork & Mindy, a sitcom which aired in 1978. He played in two jazz bands, and one of them was the Beverly Hills Unlisted Jazz Band, which became pretty successful during the '70s and early '80s. Despite being 90, he never required any serious medical treatment.
Peggy Dow - 90
Peggy Dow, born Peggy V. Varnadow, had an impressive acting career, even though it lasted just three years. In 1949, she signed a deal with Universal, later appearing in nine films. Her most recognizable role was the one of medical assistant Kelly in the 1950 movie, Harvey. Her marriage to oil tycoon Walter Helmerich III put a sudden end to her career in 1951, but since then, she has devoted her life to philanthropy and the arts.
Nancy Olson - 90
Can you believe that Nancy Olson is now 90? Her debut role came in 1949, and just one year later, her portrayal of Betty Schaefer in the film Sunset Boulevard earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She has had a lucrative career after decades of activity, and looking this gorgeous at such an age is not a coincidence. With all the bucks she's made, it's safe to assume that she has a top-notch health insurance plan on standby which helps her stay shiny all these years.
Ann Blyth - 90
The Golden Age of Hollywood generated a whole new wave of iconic actors, with one of the last surviving ones being Ann Blyth. Her angelic face, smile, and voice earned her a lot of spots in music films. Terry Moore - 89
Oh boy! What anti-aging methods does Terry Moore actually have? She is the definition of aging gracefully. Moore managed to star in numerous blockbuster films of her time, such as Mighty Joe Young, and especially Come Back, Little Sheba, for which she almost won an Academy Award For Best Supporting Actress. While others her age would only be thinking about retiring, Moore doesn't give up. And while she has indeed slowed down, she hasn't vanished from the acting scene.
Dick Van Dyke - 92
Dick Van Dyke gained huge fame with his sitcom The Dick Van Dyke Show, after which, he made numerous appearances in many movies and TV shows. The actor needed the help of a divorce attorney just once in his life as he separated from his first wife Margie Willett with whom he was married for more than thirty years. He is a proud grandfather of seven grandchildren.
Dean Stockwell - 82
With a seven-decade-long acting career, it’s reasonable that Stockwell would be content with retirement. However, after suffering a stroke in 2015, it took a health warning from his doctor to finally compel the Gentleman’s Agreement actor to leave the trade. Stockwell started out in the entertainment industry as a child actor appearing in films like Anchors Aweigh and The Green Years. His Married to the Mob performance earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Academy Awards. Stockwell’s last appearances were in 2015 on an NCIS: New Orleans episode and on Entertainment.

In 2016, she starred in the Wild Oats film alongside Jessica Lange and she’s also taken part in several TV projects. Some of her TV appearances include a recurring role in Downton Abbey and cameos in 2 episodes of Glee. MacLaine in the past had court dates over lawsuits she’s brought up regarding contractual disputes. That hasn’t dampened her workflow one bit as she recently appeared in the 2018 film Little Mermaid. She is also part of upcoming comedy film, Noelle, scheduled for release in 2019.

Warren Beatty takes pride in being a 14-time Academy Award nominee and clinching the Best Director recognition for the 1981 Reds film. The 1961 movie, Splendor in the Grass, gave Beatty his start in the industry. He’s also gained widespread accolades for taking on diverse production responsibilities including writing, producing, directing, and acting. For instance, Beatty wrote, produced, and starred in the 2016 rom-com, Rules Don’t Apply. Being a Democrat, he has been a business traveler on numerous occasions to organize politically-geared fundraising campaigns. Beatty was also close friends with the late Republican Senator John McCain and was even a pallbearer at the senator’s 2018 funeral.
Mildred Kornman - 93
Our Gang most notably gave Mildred Kornman a start in the entertainment business—and she’s actress Mary Kornman’s younger sister. Kornman is also amongst the last surviving silent-film era child actors. The Kornman sisters followed in the footsteps of their father, Eugene, who is a famous still photographer and their mother who also had cameos in several movies. Kornman adopted the moniker Ricky Van Dusen when she got older and went ahead to become an incredibly successful fashion model. At 93, she hasn’t had any publicized life-threatening illnesses and we must admit she looks awesome for her age.
Carla Balenda - 93
The Mickey Rooney Show where Carla Balenda starred as Rooney’s TV love is considered as the role that gave her strides in showbiz. Born Sally Bliss, she officially changed her name to Carla Balenda explaining that she found her initial name too cute. Balenda also appeared on the TV show The Adventures of Dr. Fu Manchu as Betty Leonard. After her role in the 1966 film Seconds, she seems to have dropped off the Hollywood radar. We can confirm that she’s still alive and kicking, which is more than anyone could ask their doctor for at her age.
Mitzi Gaynor - 87
It’s an unwritten requirement to be a triple threat (singer, dancer, and actress) to make it big in showbiz—and Mitzi Gaynor fits the bill. Interestingly, her 1952 full movie role in There’s No Business Like Show Business is what made her famous. Four years following that role, she appeared in the motion picture adaptation of Hammerstein and Rodgers’ stage musical South Pacific. She’s been honored for her contributions to the entertainment industry over the years and even received the inaugural Dizzy Feet Foundation Legend Award in 2016. September 30th of 2017 saw Gaynor become a Great American Songbook Hall of Fame inductee, an initiative that celebrates performers, lyricists, and composers.
Leslie Caron - 87
Upon hanging her film acting cloak in 2003, Leslie Caron had appeared in approximately 45 films. The dancer and actress’ rise to stardom came from appearances in musicals including DaddyLong Legs, An American in Paris, and Lili. She was also featured in movies like The L-Shaped Room and Fanny. Away from showbiz, Caron owned a restaurant and hotel aptly located just under a hundred miles from Paris. She won an Emmy in 2006 for her guest role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. While she currently doesn’t act in films, Caron appeared in the TV series, The Durrells, as Countess Mavrodaki.
Angie Dickinson - 87
Gun The Man Down, a 1956 motion picture, gave Angie Dickinson a nudge in the spotlight, but she had already been appearing in numerous anthology series before. She won the New Star Golden Globe Award for her appearance in the 1959 film Bravo. Back in the day, she graced celebrity news tabloids for allegedly having affairs with Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and John F. Kennedy. Dickinson continued to appear in movies and TV shows going into the 2000s with cameos in Oceans Eleven and Elvis Left The Building. Her portrayal in the film Mending Fences appears to have been Dickinson’s last known role before she retired from the trade in 2009.
Darryl Hickman - 87
If you want to get a head start in showbiz with some acting classes, then Darryl Hickman is the man to contact. The acting coach has had a long and successful career as an actor and he also now dabbles as a television executive. Having been born in Hollywood, it does make sense why Hickman pursued a career in entertainment. After his first role in the 1973 film The Prisoner of Zenda, he was soon landing many more acting jobs. His final film role was voicing Marbles/Hornet in the 1986 film GoBots: Battle of the Rock Lords. Hickman later transitioned to screenwriting and eventually published a book on acting techniques.

Caine has had over 125 film appearances with his most recent notable ones being in the 2014 film Interstellar, 2017's Dunkirk, 2014's Kingsman: The Secret Service, and 2018's King of Thieves. In 2018, it was reported that Caine sold his property in South Beach.
Robert Duvall - 87
Robert Duvall must have a great wealth management adviser because his estimated net worth is now at $70 million which he earned over his six-decade-long career. In recent times, he has starred and directed the 2000 film Chinese Coffee. He’s set to star alongside Robert De Niro in The Irishman, a 2019 Martin Scorsese biographical crime movie. She just celebrated her 100th birthday on the 19th of February 2018.
